Rachel Brathen is a yogi living in Aruba, spreading her love of yoga each day over her social media accounts.  She travels the world to teach yoga and inspires me every day to look up to the sky, be humble and grateful.

Lauren Rudick is the yogi who inspired me to start the #handstand365 challenge.  I only did 29, but I tried. And I felt inspired. I am still inspired daily by her pictures, her messages, and I also love her yoga jewelry that she hands makes with care.

Jennifer Aniston. Where do I start? I love her. She is probably my favorite actress. And she does yoga too.  I think I’ve seen every movie she is in.  I think my favorite role was when she starred in the Good Girl.  She is regular and ordinary, yet cool.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZXynl7z4hU

Gwyneth Paltrow became my idol when Brad Pitt asked her to marry her.   I also love how classy she is and how she can adapt to various accents in her acting roles.  My favorite movie she was in was Shakespeare In Lovehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3Zi2N1Q8-Y

31 Day Music Challenge: Day 28 A Song that Makes You Feel Guilty

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwCykGDEp7M

Hurt” by Christina Aguilera is a song that makes me feel guilty.   In the video, she loses her father, and this song reminds me of losing my father (in 1997).  The last time I saw him was at my brother’s wedding about six weeks before he died. I knew he had kidney cancer a few years previously, but I didn’t know it spread to his liver and that he would die from the surgery to remove the tumor.  I didn’t even know he was facing another surgery.  I feel guilty because the last night I saw him, I didn’t spend more time with him. We did have a great time dancing, and we did bond that weekend.   I said goodnight to him and went off to party with other people in the wedding party.  In the morning when I woke up, he had already left for the airport.  I never got to see him again.

Wake Me Up When September Ends” by Green Day is a song I listen to when I’m sad.  It’s sad because it’s about losing someone.  In the video the guy joins the military and goes off to war while his girl waits for him at home. It’s about the fragility of life, how things can change quickly and before we know it life is over.   One of my friends died during the month of September, so it also reminds me of him.  Like, just wake me up when the month is over and I don’t have to think about that day.

31 Day Music Challenge: A Song You Used to Love but Now You Hate

The A Team” by Ed Sheeran is a song I used to love but now I hate.  Hate is a strong word, so I had some trouble finding a song to fit this description, but I picked it because at first I really liked it and now I am really tired of it.  It’s the first song on my iPhone songs list, so every time I get in my car and plug in my phone, it’s the song that plays by default.   In order for that not to happen, I have to have something else playing first before I plug it into my car. Otherwise I hear this song all the time, and honestly I’m just getting tired of it. I love the solo and want to learn to play it, but it’s wearing on my nerves.

I’ll never forget the Grammy’s this year when Ed Sheeran performed this song with Elton John. My thirteen year old said, “Who is that old guy taking over Ed Sheeran’s song?”  Talk about an LOL moment.  of course Sir Elton John is a musical legend, and the real question is who is this young guy taking the stage with Elton John!

Wildflowers” by Tom Petty describes me.  It’s a song about being part of nature and doing what makes you feel free.  That definitely describes my soul.  I am a free spirit, and I am in love with the natural world. Whether it’s flowers or the ocean, I feel free and at home when in nature.  I deserve to find love and I deserve to feel free.   I believe in following you heart even if you are different from other people.

Here are the lyrics:

Words And Music By Tom Petty

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
Sail away, kill off the hours
You belong somewhere you feel free

Run away, find you a lover
Go away somewhere all bright and new
I have seen no other
Who compares with you

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
You belong with your love on your arm
You belong somewhere you feel free

Run away, go find a lover
Run away, let your heart be your guide
You deserve the deepest of cover
You belong in that home by and by

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong somewhere close to me
Far away from your trouble and worry
You belong somewhere you feel free
You belong somewhere you feel free

What do you think? If you know me, do you think this song describes me?

Eddie Vedder

I got tickets today to see Eddie Vedder next week, and I’m so excited I can barely stand it!! I have never seen him or Pearl Jam, but I love him and their music. He’s awesome in the band, and  I fell in love with his solo work after seeing the movie, Into the Wild. the soundtrack is all Eddie Vedder. Not typically a fan of the ukulele, I downloaded his new album from itunes and love it.  Eddie brings a certain charisma and talent to make even a ukelele song sound good. He postponed his solo tour in April, and he will be on Dallas only for one night. I can’t wait to see him performing live!!
